The MELA Method

Conceptualised by Dr. Natasa Kobal, the MELA Method consists of four key stages, which are part of an individual’s learning cycle.

MELA diagram
  1. Motivation: Motivation is key in the learning process, as it directs your perception and actions toward a particular goal. Only when properly motivated, you will be able to effectively learn what you need to put into practice in order to achieve your goal.
  2. Exploration: When motivated to learn, you will most likely explore various learning options. Nowadays, you can find digital resources online, free and paid. These include online courses, eBooks, tutorials, webinars, and many others. All you need to do is explore between the available options to find the most suitable solution for you, considering your time, budget, preferred learning style, and your goal. Often, this includes a combination of different solutions.
  3. Learning: Once you find the right solution, you will learn what you need. You might first read a blog post to have a better understanding about the topic, then read an eBook with more detailed information, and perhaps end with an online webinar, where they show you how to put into practice what you learnt.
  4. Application: Now that you learnt what you need, it’s time to take action. You can now apply in practice what you learnt in order to achieve your goal. Following the results of your application, you will be then further motivated to learn more about the same topic or to complement your knowledge and skills through other topics.

Basically, the IB4SME resources created based on the MELA Method are meant for those of you who are motivated to learn what you need and put your new knowledge immediately into action, so you can achieve your goals
